We love tea, we're British, how could we not! We also love diving and pretending to be mermaids, so how better to mix the two together than with a tea infuser, a nautical sea tea infuser.
There are some amazing little sea themed infusers out there and we've reviewed 4 of the best.
We've compared all silicone and stainless steel tea infusers. These are all great in hot environments and perfect for making a great cup of tea.
Don't worry, they are all dishwasher safe, but they are simply designed so that you can get away with just rinsing them out.
For a lovable yet functional tea strainer the Manatea is the top choice. If your concerned about loose tea escaping the Octeaopus is for you.
For novelty factor appeal the Deep Sea Diver and the Submarine will bode you well for gift ideas and stocking fillers for your sea loving tea drinking friends and family.

This is a review of the HeroNeo Manatee Tea Leaf Infuser
After taking a little while to arrive this little manatee tea leaf diffuser was worth the wait. Out of the bag pops a friendly looking manatee made of soft silicone rubber that is food grade. It came in a plastic bag which if I wanted to give as a gift I would need to re package to make it look prettier. Measuring in at 10.5 x 5.5 cm he fits well into most cups and mugs of tea. This little diffuser looks just like a manatee with its shape, texture and design of his face.
This little manatee not only brings a little extra happiness to a tea break it actually does provide a good cup of tea. You just need to unscrew him for the middle. Pop in your required amount of loose tea and screw him back together. Then pop him onto the rim of your tea cup and the tea will slowly diffuse through the holes. Depending on what type of tea you use some tea leaf may fall through the holes as they are a little large but generally out only comes a lovely flavour of a excellent tea.
The manatee is also very easy going, not minding a few biscuits dunked next to it, chocolate from chocolate chips especially can be wiped off the manatee with no trouble and can overall be cleaned out very easily.
- Well made and cute design
- Made of food grade silicone rubber

- Doesn't get hot so can be easily removed for your cup
- Makes a great gift for a sea lover, diver and mermaid

This manatee is fun loving, adorable yet practical providing a lovely addition to any mermaid's tea break.
This is a review of the Mustard Octeaopus Tea Strainer
So its a known fact octopus realise ink as a defence mechanism well this little octopus or should I say "octeaopus" likes to provide tea but in a happy way.
This little octopus is very cute, in a light blue colour and big round large body compared to its tentacles. He is made of silicone that is classified as food safe, it also has a stainless steel chain attached to it for ease of putting in and out of your tea and attaching to your tea cup.
To use simply unscrew the top of the octopus, fill with your preferred amount of loose tea and screw back on. Your little octopus is very easy to clean and can be popped into the dishwasher.
What I really like about this little octopus is the effect it provides is almost lifelike as I said previously about octopus and their ink you do the essence of this when your tea is brewing. Now it does take a little while and this is becuase the holes in the octopus are small and are all located right at the bottom. However if you are a bit of a chatterbox over a cup of tea then your not really going to notice the slight delay. I found that it worked best holding the octopus up to the middle of the cup while in the water provided the best diffusion of loose tea.
- Cute design
- Easy to use
- Dishwasher and food safe
- Stainless steel chain attached for ease of use
- Easy to clean
- Not likely to loose any loose tea into cup
- Very small holes in diffuser
- Will take a while to brew a cup of tea
Not in a rush for your tea or know someone who loves a bit of a gossip at their tea break, this lovely cute little octeaopus would make a wonderful gift.
This is a review of Fred & Friends Deep Diver Tea Infuser
This little deep diver is quite a unique design for difusing tea. It arrives in a cardboard box packaged quite well would work as a gift as it comes.
The diver is made from silicone rubber that is food safe and dishwasher safe too. The colour and shape provides a very nautical theme, perfect for a diver or sea lover. What is specifically unique to this tea infuser is the counterweight. From the infuser that sits at the bottom of your tea cup or tea pot a silicone rubber hose pipe connects out to a miniature orange and silver made of stainless steel providing ease of access to drop in and pull out your deep diver.
To add your tea leaves to the diver you will need to screw off his bottom have and spoon in the desired amount of loose tea. Be careful on what type of loose tea you use with your diver as some may escape as the holes are quite big in comparison to a boring normal infuser. Its practicality as to diffuse is not perfect but what you get with this diver is fun over a brilliant cup of tea.
This Fred & Friends product is simple to use and easy to clean. It isn't the most discreet tea infusing product available but you would buy this on a basis of fun or as a gift for someone who loves the sea such as a mermaid and those who love diving.
- Quirky design
- Made of safe materials
- Dishwasher friendly
- Has a handy counterpart
- Easy to clean
- Simple to use
- Great gift for divers
- Holes are quite large so you may end up with tea leaves in your cup
- Can be a little to big to for small cups of teas
The deep sea diver tea infuser by Fred & Friends is a unique and fun design, may not hold for regular practical use for your tea however great as a gift.
This is a review fro the Ototo Yellow Submarine Tea Infuser Open
This little submarine aims to provide a good cup of tea with its ability to infuse tea leaves. It comes very neatly packaged in a well branded box, I would happily wrap this up as a gift in the condition it arrived in.
Made of silicone and stainless steel it is easily cleaned and provides a long lasting tea accessory. It measures 7 x 5.5 x 2.5 cm in size making it quite small in comparison to other novelty tea infusers. It is simple to use you just need to unscrew the front of the submarine, pour in the loose tea and screw it back on. It is a cute design with its propeller at the back and the small port holes around the sides acting as the diffuser holes.
The submarine is well made, you do get the odd bit of loose tea escape through the holes but this is normal with many tea infusers (If you are looking for one that will not let any loose leaves out check out the Octeaopus). Not only for mermaids and sea lovers this little submarine is also a great gift for music lovers, thinking of one classic Beatles song in particular.
- Works well as a tea infuser
- Cute novelty gift
- Great for a sea and music lover
- Dish washer and food safe
- Easy to use and clean
- Available for next day delivery with Amazon Prime
- Some tea leaves may escape through holes
If you know of someone who is a diver and obsessed with the Beatles this is a win win. Works great as a novelty present however it you are looking for a tea strainer, look specifically for a simple tea infuser instead.
